How to Verify a China Fashion Accessories Supplier

A reliable supplier decision should not depend on a polished website, a low quotation or a certification logo alone. Start by confirming the contracting legal entity in China’s official enterprise-credit system and checking that the company name matches quotations, invoices and bank instructions. Then verify whether the business is a direct factory, trading company or sourcing partner and whether that role fits the product. Ask for product-specific evidence rather than broad claims: a comparable specification, material and construction detail, sample approval record, factory assignment, quality plan, packaging instruction and destination-market requirement list. Certification and audit documents must be checked for holder, site, scope and validity when relevant. A controlled first project is more useful than a generic promise: keep one approved specification, define checkpoints, record changes and agree how deviations will be reviewed. For regulated labeling, testing or import requirements, use official destination-market sources and qualified advisers. This process does not guarantee performance, but it makes claims testable before a larger commitment.

Confirm the legal entity first

Search the supplier’s Chinese legal name or registration number in the National Enterprise Credit Information Publicity System. Match the result to the name on the quotation, contract, invoice and payment instruction. A brand name can differ from the legal entity, but the relationship should be explained in writing.

Identify the operating model

Ask whether the company is the contracting seller, a direct factory, a trading company or a sourcing partner coordinating specialized factories. The right model depends on the category mix, development work, factory access, quality-control responsibility and communication needs.

Request product-specific evidence

  • Comparable specification and quotation assumptions
  • Sample and approval history
  • Named product construction and factory type
  • Quality checkpoints and inspection scope
  • Buyer-approved packaging and labeling instructions
  • Project-specific certification or test-document review

Run a controlled first project

Use one current specification and approval reference. Record changes to material, construction, color, quantity, packaging, testing and timing. Define how visible defects, measurement deviations and packing errors will be documented and reviewed.

Check destination-market requirements

Rules depend on product and market. For example, the US Federal Trade Commission publishes textile-labeling guidance, the European Commission provides Access2Markets, and ISO publishes the current ISO 2859-1 acceptance-sampling standard. Use the applicable official source instead of copying another buyer’s requirements.
